Next Week and Our Thanksgiving Snack

Important Dates

11/20 (Monday)- Snack Items Due

  • Please send in one of the following items

  • Cereal (any kind)

  • Jellybeans

  • Pretzels

  • Bread

  • Butter

11/22-11/24 (Wednesday-Friday)- No School

  • Thanksgiving Break

Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

  • On Monday, we will read the story “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” and we will recreate the Thanksgiving that Charlie Brown had with his friends. The characters in the story created a Thanksgiving meal using items that they had. Which includes cereal, jellybeans, pretzels, bread and butter (for toast). We would like to have a small snack for our students.

  • If you are able to, please send in one of these items by Monday 11/20.

Homework

Please help your child learn to tie their shoes! If you already know, you have no homework!

  • If you would like to work on skills at home. Please consider using your child’s CLEVER QR CODE to play on LEXIA, DREAMBOX or READING A-Z!

  • Go to http://www.jessamine.kyschools.us/

  • Then click on the “For Students” tab

  • Scroll down to “Clever Log In”

  • Click on the CLEVER BADGE Log In and use your device’s camera to scan your child’s “Clever Badge” – it’s a QR Code.

  • Hold up the “Clever Badge until a Green Check Mark comes on.

  • Students can then choose to play Lexia, Dreambox or Reading A-Z!

Recess

As the weather is getting cooler, we will still be going outside for recess daily unless it is raining, snowing, or is below freezing. Please send your child to school dressed to play outside for recess. Thank you!

What Are We Learning Next Week?

  • Book(s)/Poem(s): Thanksgiving

  • Concepts of Print: words are written & read left to right, top to bottom, spaces, punctuation.

  • Writing: learning to spell words by the letter sounds they hear (with the exception of sight words)

  • Letter(s) & Sound(s): Review of all letters Aa-Zz

  • Math: numerals, amounts, counting, one to one correspondence, more, less, sorting, measurement & weight

  • Sight Words: I, see, a, can, like, the

  • Please make sure to never have your child use sounds to read sight words, these words usually do not follow language rules.

Monday (Day 2) - Library

Tuesday (Day 3) – Gym- Please send your child to school in tennis shoes

Reminders:

  • Please put breakfast or lunch money in the zipper pouch of your child’s T.I.G.E.R. Folder.

  • Please put breakfast/lunch money in the zipper pouch and do not have your child place it in their pockets.

  • This will eliminate any confusion, lost money or unexpected cafeteria charges.

  • You can also place any type of note in the zipper pouch in your child’s T.I.G.E.R. Folder.

  • It could be a note for transportation, absence, doctor, dentist and so on.

  • Please send in an extra set of clothes for your child, just in the case of an accident, if you have not sent in extra clothes already.

  • Please initial your child’s behavior calendar inside of their T.I.G.E.R. Folder every night.

  • When you initial it, please take a few moments to talk about your child’s day together.

  • Thank you for doing this at home! It helps at school when your child knows that you will discuss their day with them.

  • Remember that it will only be colored in if your child was on any color other than green. If the calendar is left blank, it means your child had a great day on green!

  • If your child was on green, blue or purple remember to celebrate a great day! It could be their favorite dinner or dessert, a trip to the park, a movie night, a family game night, getting to visit a nearby family member, or any other reward you think your child would enjoy!
