I LOVE TO READ WEEK and Picture Day!

Important Dates:

Read Across America Week!

March 6th (Monday)

  • It’s “Wear Red & White”

  • Celebrate with the Cat and wear RED & WHITE

March 7th (Tuesday)

  • It’s GREEN Day!

  • Wear as much GREEN as you can to celebrate Sam and his love for “Green Eggs and Ham!”

March 8th (Wednesday)

  • It’s Sock Day!

  • Multi-colored socks, one red sock‘n one blue, any fun socks will do!

March 9th (Thursday)

  • Spring Picture Day

  • Please dress up for individual student pictures on this day. There will be no dress up except for school pictures on this day.

March 10th (Friday)

  • It’s PJ Day!

  • For a sleepover, slumber party, or even to bed, come to school in your pajamas instead!

3/16 (Thursday) – Kindergarten Music Concert

  • Every year, our Kindergarten students perform a concert for families in our JELV Gym.

  • Since there are 27 kindergarten classrooms, we must have different times for performances. Our classroom performance will take place at 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

  • Please arrive early to park and find a spot to sit in the GYM.

  • 10 minutes before the concert (at 5:50 p.m.) Teachers will meet their class in the CAFETERIA to prepare for the performance.

  • Please have your child wear BLUE for our performance of our song, “BOY BLUE”

What Are We Learning Next Week?

Math:

  • ways to make 5 and 10

  • beginning addition with symbols (+ and =)

  • Math Vocabulary: “equal”, “add”, “all together”, “in all”, “sum”

Literacy:

  • Medial/Vowel Sounds

  • CVC Words (3 letter words)

  • “Chunks”- that make a funny sound when they are together- not their regular alphabet sound (sh, ch, th, wh)

  • “Blends”- consonant sounds that say their regular alphabet sounds (bl, cl, fl, sl, br, cr, fr, tr….)

  • Sight Words: review

Writing:

  • Labeling pictures with beginning sounds

  • Stretching out words verbally and writing the letters that we hear

  • Writing a Personal Narrative

Read Aloud(s)/Poem(s):

  • The Cat in the Hat

  • Green Eggs and Ham

  • Fox in Socks

  • Wacky Wednesday

  • Sleep Book
