Comparing Mittens and Next Week!
Comparing Mittens was a fun game we played last week during math stations. In this game students rolled one or two dice/die and created the amount on their mitten. Then their partner would do the same on their mitten. Once both amounts had been created, students would then use "math talk" to discuss which one was the greater amount or has the least, "greater than" or "less than", and in some cases, "equal to" symbols were introduced to students. We enjoyed learning this new concept this week. If you hear your child talk about the greater than or less than alligator, check out this song we used to help students understand the new symbols in math from YouTube, click on the video below to watch!
Valentines
You may send in valentines with your child but please have them write only their name on the “from” part of the card. This makes it easier for the kids to give their cards out!
We will be passing out valentines on Friday, February 13th. We will also be making our valentines bags in Art. We will be reading a story and eating a snack after we pass out the cards.
