February Fun!
Can you believe it is already February? Last month went by super fast! I hope you have had a great weekend with your family!
We are starting a new schedule this week. We will be modeling activities and independent stations of a first grade classroom to start preparing our students for first grade. Usually in first grade, there is only one teacher in the classroom. In kindergarten we have two teachers and we also have another support of Mrs. Ensor for Guided Reading Groups. We will still be utilizing these supports in our classroom, but the schedule will be modified to prepare students for this change and get used to the routine.
Next week, we will start book bags, each book bag will contain books students have read in guided reading groups and in shared reading that are specifically choosen for your child's individual reading level. For this to occur, we are in need of some sturdy gallon zipper bags. Really sturdy bags are key for students to be able to reuse these bags, and place books in the bags as well as taking them out of the bags. If you are able to help out in this need, we would greatly appreciate it.
The district has decided school WILL BE in session on President’s Day (Feb. 16) to make up for the snow day we missed in November.
If your child has not turned in the second page from their snow day packet from Tuesday’s snow day, please send it in on Monday.
Thank you to everyone who sent in fruit loops! We had a great time making groups of 10 with them to count to 100!
We also had some great looking 100 year-olds! Thank you for taking the time to dress your child up! We got to see pictures of my grandmother, who is 99 years old. We discussed how many birthdays she would need to have to get to 100. My grandmother also loves to count. We watched a video of her counting and counted to 100 with her!
You can send in January homework on Monday. In your child’s folder there is a February homework packet, which was sent home on Friday.

Valentines
I have had many parents ask about sending in valentines. You may send in valentines with your child but please have them write only their name on the “from” part of the card. This makes it easier for the kids to give their cards out! We will be passing out valentines on Friday, February 13th. We will also be making our valentines bags in Art. We will be reading a story and eating a snack after we pass out the cards.
