Welcome to Our Kindergarten Classroom Website! Info about Open House and Transportation Changes

I cannot believe that it is almost time for a new school year! Mrs. Candy & I are VERY EXCITED to meet all of our new students at Kindergarten Open House on August 8th!

Here is some important information that you need to know about:

Wednesday, July 30th- Teacher Letter

  • By this date you should have recieved by mail:

  • a Meet the Teacher(s) Letter,

  • an Address Verification Form,

  • This form states the address the school currently has for the student/family, the mode of transportation to/from school, and it includes your child's 1st Day of School- either 8/13 or 8/14 your child will only attend one of these days, stated on the letter. All students will attend school on Friday, 8/15.

  • If your child will be riding the bus, the bus garage will be sending out post cards informing students of bus numbers and pick up/drop off times.

  • If your address or transportation mode is incorrect, please contact the school on Thursday, July 31st to make the changes.

  • and an Open House invitation and assigned time

  • The Open House will provide a chance for you and your child to meet the teacher, bring school supplies (which are very heavy for a child to bring on the 1st day on their own), parents/guardians a chance to fill out vital paperwork.

Thursday, July 31st- Transportation Changes

  • If you need to make any transportation changes please call the school at (859) 887-5357 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Friday, August 8th- Kindergarten Open House

  • Kindergarten Open House will take place in our classroom, CO2- Dark Green Pod at JELV, please refer to the Teacher Letter recieved by mail for your time to attend.

  • Transportation Tags

  • Due to the age of our students, Transportation Tags are essential in getting all of our kiddos to the right place at arrival and dismissal. Often students are unable to tell a bus driver their first/last name or address or mode of transportation. The Transportation Tags removes this problem with your child's information and mode of transportation. This is especially important during the first few weeks of school.

  • Transportation Tags will be passed out at Open House so students have them attached to their backpacks when they arrive the first day of school.

  • Transportation Changes

  • We will not be taking transportation changes at Open House Night.

  • Parents/Guardians please call the school on Thursday, July 31st 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. for all transportation changes.

  • Any changes after this date must be done by the parent on the child’s phase in day (first day of school depending on the assignment, 8/13 or 8/14) in M13/M14.

  • Transportation Changes are made by the Bus Garage staff. They schedule bus stop(s) and have to make changes to the time of each scheduled stop when adding a student to the bus route. This includes notifying the bus garage, processing by making route and schedule changes and notifying all of the bus rider's parents/guardians of the changes before it can be implemented.

  • Therefore, please make any changes in person at the school as soon as possible. It usually takes about 2 full days before a student can change transportation during the regular school year.

  • Parent Orientation Sign Up

  • Parent Orientation Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 4th.

  • We ask parents/guardians to choose a time that best works for their schedule the times available are (if there is no preference, then you will be randomly assigned a time):

  • 5:45 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.

  • 6:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

  • The smaller group sessions allows for parents/guardians to ask questions.

  • Students are not allowed to attend to allow parents/guardians a chance to fully understand our goals, curriculum, assessments, rules, procedures and so on.

  • The First Day of School Dismissal Information

  • The 1st Day of Kindergarten is always an important moment for students, THerefore, we know that may require a special mode of transportation to or from school. Please let us know how your child will be going home from school on this special day.
